    • ts_1There are around 540 Quality Status parishes in the U.K. from a total of 10,000. Of Bromsgrove District Council`s 19 parishes, 4 are Quality Status, the highest percentage of any Worcestershire District Council.


      Lickey and Blackwell Parish Council are currently in the process of applying for re-accreditation for Quality Parish Status, originally granted in 2006. We hope to have completed the application requirements this Spring and remain optimistic of a successful outcome.

    • The importance of the Finance Group cannot be overstated and the whole Parish Council depends on the accuracy and foresight to ensure budgets and expenditure levels are strictly maintained.


      The group monitors the Parish Council accounts throughout the year and facilitates the production of the annual budget to allow the whole Council to determine the precept.

    • With responsibilities including this website and the quarterly PC Newsletter, the Communication group are determined to offer a useful level of information to our resident’s. And of interest to boot!


      The regular Residents’ Meetings, held at different venues around the parish, offer an opportunity for everyone to become involved in Parish affairs and on subjects that educate and entertain.

    • Social ServicesWelcome to the Social Services Group of Lickey and Blackwell Parish Council. We meet approximately once a month to discuss and review new and on going issues. We cover all social aspects of the Parish, including the needs of the elderly and young, transport, housing and lighting, as well as liaising with our very own Parish Poets in Residence and the two Christmas Tree Lighting events.

    • HighwaysWhere the safety of residents is concerned, the Highways Group is vigilant and active in all parts of the Parish. Recent achievements include the installation of flashing speed signs, improved recreational area safety and improved road crossing. We encourage residents’ assistance in identifying potential issues.

    • Environment The Environment Group works to ensure that the parish fabric is well maintained and to introduce new initiatives to improve the lovely area in which we are lucky enough to live. Apart from the regular maintenance of the Parish footpaths, we are also responsible for boundary signs, planters and the Mapping our Parish initiative.


      We are currently organising the annual PC Best Front Garden competition.

      PlanningBromsgrove District Council, our Local Planning Authority, deals with applications for planning permission. However, Parish Councils have the right to be notified of these applications and can make representations to the Planning and Development Committee of Bromsgrove District Council.

    February Residents Meeting

    If you are over 60 and live in the Parish, then join us for afternoon tea, and listen to our guest speaker Tony Hale on 'a Lifetime in Radio' Thursday 23rd February from 2-4pm at Barnt Green Cricket Club

      

    New Councillor co-opted

    At October's Parish Council Meeting we were delighted to welcome our newly co-opted Councillor, Mrs Jo Eales, to represent Linthurst ward. We still have one vacancy for a councillor in Linthurst ward (Blackwell)

    I hope as many over 60's as are able join us for our residents meeting at Barnt Green Cricket Club on Thursday 23rd February with afternnon tea and guest speaker Tony Hale. Tickets are free of charge but must be ordered from the Executive Officer
