    Highways

HighwaysWhere the safety of residents is concerned, the Highways Group is vigilant and active in all parts of the Parish. Recent achievements include the installation of flashing speed signs, improved recreational area safety and improved road crossing. We encourage residents’ assistance in identifying potential issues.

The Highways Group member’s of the Parish Council currently consists of Cllrs Jackie Johnson/lead, Janet King and Leanne Ling. However, it is fair to say that ALL of the Parish Councillors of Lickey and Blackwell PC take an active and interested role in the highways in and around our Parish.

The work of the Highways group is varied, and, whilst we strive to get results, many of our successes are heavily reliant on the cooperation, partnership and the budgets within Worcestershire County Council.

The roads and pavements around the Lickey and Blackwell Parish are rural by virtue of our location, many with single track, unlit, and with varying speed limits.

Safety of other road users and those on foot is our prime concern - in particular the speed of traffic outside both Lickey Hills Primary School and Blackwell First School. The Parish Council has campaigned tirelessly over the last few years to ensure that children can arrive at school without encountering dangerous traffic, and that parents and carers park in a considerate manner close by.

Our remit is simple - we look at potholes, report them to County, and monitor whether they have been filled! But that's not all - in addition we respond to complaints and comments from people in the parish on speeding, general road conditions, signage, address any concerns, and liaise regularly with engineers and those at Worcestershire County Council to ensure any necessary remedial work is carried out promptly.
